LEMAN LOCKE APARTHOTEL

LONDON

Design-conscious serviced apartments are a growing trend in the hospitality industry: travellers are seeking out extra living space and a degree of home comforts, but with a high-spec finish more akin to a top hotel. Leman Locke in London’s Aldgate follows this concept, and Chapel Street has been instrumental in delivering the project, making sofas, beds, tables and chairs for the 168 apartments and 63 one-bedroom suites.

This contract demonstrates Chapel Street’s expanding capabilities, showing how it can deliver high-volume orders – and high quality – on a budget. ‘Doing more with less’ could be the mantra, and Chapel Street worked with procurement specialists Argenta Projects to complete the light, contemporary-style apartments in only five months.

Despite the challenging budget and quick turnaround, there was still room for innovation and attention to detail. Two single beds can be linked together, a feature usually only seen on a divan style of bed: at Leman Locke, the same functionality has been developed for a platform bed, a more elegant solution, and the solid brass latch that connects the two has been designed as an attractive feature in itself.
